Description: Students will learn basic concepts of tone, rhythm, movement, focused listening, vocal skills, and music notation. Pre-keyboard skills will be learned on a glockenspiel and a recorder will be the wind instrument of choice. Additional simple instruments, games, and literature will be used to reinforce these musical concepts. Memory songs will be learned while creating lapbooks on a related theme. Topics may include history, science, geography, Bible, and classical composers. A specific example might include learning the Presidents' Song while creating a lapbook that highlights various presidents. Other examples are 50 States Song, Nations of the World, Books of the Bible, Lyrical Science, etc.
