Title:  Great British Writers 16th – 19th Centuries

Description: Come explore the Royal World of Shakespeare (16th Century) for half a year followed by other British poets, Dickens, and Austen. Students will create a lapbook for the world of Shakespeare, as well as read and dissect Shakespearean works. Both well known and lesser known works will be reviewed though oral discussion, film, and possible field trips. Then we will transition to some key works by other major British writers and poets including Byron, Blake, Shelley, Austen, and Dickens. Students will need to be able to read and discuss the literature, be willing to be creative, and try their hand at a little acting too. Papers, projects, and memorization required. This will be a fun class with lots of history and lively discussion. This is a unique romp through the life, times, and works of Shakespeare. 2-4 hrs of homework/week; min. 5 students.
