High School Mathematics

Attention The following information applies to Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, and Pre-Calculus:
Concepts are presented in the “build, write, say” format to reach students with a variety of learning styles (kinesthetic, auditory, visual). Students will participate in hands-on learning activities, lecture, class discussion, in class practice, and independent homework practice. Students will be assessed using lesson and unit tests as well as activities observed in class. Homework will consist of activities from the Math-U-See work text as well as Life of Fred activities. Students are expected to complete homework activities throughout the week and turn it in on Tuesdays.
Classroom Methodology: Thursdays – new information presented; Tuesdays – Life of Fred readings and assignments discussed. Math-U-See homework graded and discussed. Assessments taken for the lessons presented the previous Thursday. Students will explore other math concepts and activities as appropriate. Students will participate in group activities. Instructor will provide one-on-one help during group and independent work. The goal is that every student receives one-on-one instruction at least once a week. Extra help is available as well.
